So it's officially summer!!

It is so stinkin' hot out these days, so naturally, we're limited to a lot of indoor play. For mom, it means being super mom thinking up activities and keeping babies entertained. So far, summer has been going smoothly and I haven't lost all my hair yet. Mckinley is pretty easy staying busy with eating, sleeping, watching her brother and working on her charm. We've been busy with cousin Noah and Haley, playdates with our church and neighbors, visits to the park and library and sometimes quick shopping errands that include a multitude of snacks and a sippie cup. When all else fails, give snacks!
Fun in the sun with cousins.

When Cayden was her age, he looked almost exactly the same. I love how much they resemble each other.

He wants her to kiss him too. She really has no choice at this point but to simply tolerate him and allow him to point out her eyes, pick at her nose and pull at her ears. I think he thinks she's a puppy. She'll get her chance to "pay" him back soon enough.

Fresh out of the tub with dad.

A trip to the zoo!!

So a couple of weekends ago, we loaded up the van and headed to the zoo. We've been wanting to go for a while especially since Cayden is learning all about animals. I half expected the animals to be jumping around and entertaining us. Maybe that was due to all the cartoons lately; it was quite the opposite. Most of the animals he would know were sleeping or hiding somewhere, so I was a little disappointed. Lazy cats!

Seeing the elephant may have been the best part of the day. It was nice because they were so close and that really excited Cayden. Mckinley would rather sleep, and so she did.

Just taking a snack break!

These goats were crazy!! They knew to head your way if you even got close to the feeding machine. Cayden enjoyed getting so close and feeding them.

Ok, we are beat at this point and it's only 11:30am. Cayden was tired and clearly grumpy. :) Although he was super exhausted, the train ride was most exciting for him. Lately his three favorite words are "truck, train and tractor." He was so fascinated and just loved riding and seeing things go by. He pointed at everything and just laughed. I loved seeing him that way. Overall, good day. We'll have to go back when Mckinley is a little older and knows her animals too. Cayden fell asleep before we left the parking lot!!
